Stronger

Ooh hey YEAH! I would just like to congratulate myself for making it through the first rotation! Go me! This last week, actually went by quick for me, and I did great! It is amazing to me how Heavenly Father listens to my prayers at night when I am scared, and wanting to sleep...and I would sleep so wonderfully! He is really there and answers the smallest prayers! I feel like I've been a stronger person, and I can do this mother thing! All I need is a cape. Ha ha. NO, I am not super mom, but I had a teensy-tiny, microscopic dot of a feeling of a super mom, being able to handle two kids, if they are crying at the same time, or having Carter throw up on me, or something, or knowing what to do to make them happy. I've had my good moments, and my bad moments and my funny and scary moments. Here's what I would like to share:

Scary Moment: I am deathly afraid of scorpions. I HATE them. I really do. And yesterday, I was in the kitchen talking on the phone, and I look down and there is a scorpion by my foot! AAAaahhH!! So my mother bear instinct in me was to kill kill kill!! I am so glad that the kids were sleeping at this time! How terrible would it be if it stung Carter or Reece or me? SCARY. So I found a diaper box, and threw it on top of it and then I stood on it for a long long time. Story short, I squished it and manned up enough to throw it away. I am so scared its going to come back alive and run and sting me. Silly I know. I am even scared of them when I "think" they are dead. As Carter would say, "disgusting!"

Funny Moment: You all know that we lock Carter in his bed during nap time, because that is the ONLY way to keep him in there to sleep. He is doing better with naps, most of the time. (You can read more about his nap times in my post of "Nap Nazi.") Well, as I was putting Carter to bed and tucking him in, I usually tell him, "if you come out of your bed, then I'm locking the door." He always replies back, "no lock door, mom." I say okay and leave. I wait a few moments, and he comes out of his bed asking for water, or something, and I tell him I have to lock the door. As I go in the room I lock the door because if I lock it from the outside, he hears the "click", and flips out, so I do the lock when he's getting back in bed. (Nice distraction.) I entered the room to straightened his blankets, (nice distraction) and I turn around and he says, "no lock door, mom!" And then he shuts the door with me inside!!!! I wanted to scream and shout, and laugh! I didn't have my cell phone.... AND Chase was out of town. I am so glad that Candice was home--in her bed room, hearing me banging on the wall to let me out. I can't believe it happened! I don't know what I would have done if Candice wasn't home! Crazy.

So I would like to dedicate a little song to myself for making it through this time. I never would have made it with this Britney Spear's song "Stronger": (ha ha)
Ooh hey, yeah

Hush, just stop
There’s nothing you can do or say, baby
I’ve had enough
I’m not your property as from today, baby
You might think that I won't make it on my own
But now I’m…

[Chorus:]
Stronger than yesterday
Now it’s nothing but my way
My lonliness ain’t killing me no more
I’m stronger

That I ever thought that I could be, baby
I used to go with the flow
Didn’t really care ‘bout me
You might think that I can’t take it, but you’re wrong
‘Cause now I’m…

[CHORUS:]
Stronger than yesterday
Now it’s nothing but my way
My lonliness ain’t killing me no more
I’m stronger

I like to sing this song when I see a nasty scorpion and I need to kill it! Oh yeah!

My little boys...

Lately I have been thinking about my life when I just had one child. Life was "easy." Carter was an easy baby, and he would sleep so much, and I could get so much done! People would tell me that I was lucky, and...."wait till you have two!" WELL...I think I know what those people were talking about. Life is a little bit more difficult... times 2. I love my little boys.

Carter is busy and loves to play like a little boy should. He adores his brother, and a great helper with throwing away Reece's diapers, and getting me his pacifier and burp rag when I need it. He loves to give hugs to Reece and he always says, "I love my brother." So cute.

Reece is a great baby, and loves to smile at us! I also think he is afraid of Carter. Carter has been known to hit, scratch, take away his pacifier...not all the time, but I think Carter does these things because he needs attention. I am learning how to divide my attention to both boys. Picture this: I am sitting in my peaceful rocking chair, and feeding my sweet little baby. Here comes Mr. Carter bursting through the door with so much energy he doesn't know what to do. So he jumps on the bed, and comes up to me and says something to Reece or jumps up and down, or something... and Reece always cries and screams at the top of his lungs, when Carter has interrupted his eating time. I guess my boy likes to eat in silence. Makes me kind of sad. Then my adorable 2 year old likes to scream as well to be like Reece. And they both get louder and louder.... then I feel like screaming...and I think my head is about to pop. I try to hide when I feed Reece to avoid the crying and the screaming, but somehow my little boy seems to know where to find me. And I am glad that Carter loves me, because maybe when he's a teenager he won't want to hang out with his mom! I love my boys. And I am sure there are other mothers who have this situation, or where their wonderful kids are driving them crazy. I've always wanted to be a good mother, and I am still learning how to be one. I know someday I will miss this! Not the screaming, and driving me insane, but to enjoy my little boys. They grow so fast! Here is a quote that I got from my friend's blog, that meant a lot to me:

"If you have children who are grown and gone, in all likelihood you have occasionally felt pangs of loss and the recognition that you didn’t appreciate that time of life as much as you should have. Of course, there is no going back, but only forward. Rather than dwelling on the past, we should make the most of today, of the here and now, doing all we can to provide pleasant memories for the future.

"If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will—to your surprise—miss them profoundly." President Monson.

I just needed to hear this quote. I can do this! "Never give up. Never surrender!"

Boating!

Carter and dad went on the boat today with a couple cousins.  Carter had a blast and was all worn out by the end...playing hard just like a little boy should!

Righteous Brothers - (You're My) Soul And Inspiration [HD video] (Live, ...

Are You Lonesome Tonight?

Are you lonesome tonight,
Do you miss me tonight?
Are you sorry we drifted apart?
Does your memory stray to a brighter summer day
When I kissed you and called you sweetheart?
Do the chairs in your parlor seem empty and bare?
Do you gaze at your doorstep and picture me there?
Is your heart filled with pain, shall I come back again?
Tell me dear, are you lonesome tonight?

YES. I have been lonely. Really lonely. Especially at night. When I put the kids down for bed, that's when I really really miss my hubby. I am now scared of the dark and every noise freaks me out. Why does my house make noises?? ESPECIALLY at night!? I have had some fun with my boys. Carter is now into puzzles, and knocking down bowling pins, and Reece is getting bigger and starting to make eye contact with us and smiling. I love it, and I need his smiles! I used to complain to Chase (before our "experience") about him lying his shoes and socks on the floor...I miss that! I love having him home and being there! And that's the way life should be! No one should be alone! That's why I am in Yuma for a week reunited with the hubster. Life is beautiful again! I would like to dedicate this little song to my one and only. By the Righteous Brothers (my new favorite!) "Soul and Inspiration."

Single Mom TIme

All by myself
I don't wanna be..
all by myself
anymore...

So this little song has been my song when I am feeling lonely... it kind of makes me laugh sometimes. Chase has started rotations for dental school. He is in San Luis for 6 weeks, then Maryland for Navy business for 2 weeks, Colorado in October for 6 weeks, then Navy training in Rode Island in November for 5 weeks. Yeah, I know. So I sing this song and I laugh. I laugh because it is so true, and this is my life right now, and there's no point in pouting about it and not liking it so I sing this song and laugh. Music is a big part of my life, and I always like to find songs that go with my life. So I will probably be posting tons of songs in the near future. :) I also like to blog because it makes me feel better and it helps me sort out my thoughts and feelings...and I can look at my situation in a different way. I want to write about my "experience" as being a temporary single mother...so I can look back and laugh some more. :)

The first week I was home, and then the second week I went to Yuma where Chase is staying with his parents and stayed a week. The third week I am home because I needed to take Reece to his physical therapy evaluation appointment. So here we are practically done with the third week! Whoo whoo! Here are some thoughts and things that I have discovered:

1. It is tough being a single mom 24/7. Its nice to have a husband around to help out with the kids.
2. I don't have to wear make-up if I don't want to. hee hee
3. I can eat cereal and PB and J for dinner.
4. I can watch what ever I want at night.
5. I really love my husband.

That's it for right now. There will be more to come with this adventure!
