Carter has always been a wonderful sleeper. He would take one nap in the afternoon, and sleep 3 or 4 hours a day. It was nice. He would wake up happy, I would be happy, and then he would be ready for bed at 7:30. During that time I would clean the house, do laundry, get ready for dinner, have some "me" time. And then that time was gone a week ago. I would put Carter in his bed, leave the room, and then he would sneak out, and run to me and give me a grin. I would put him back in bed, I did that so many times I wanted to cry. He was waking up super early as well. Once it was 4:30, and the other days about 5:30AM. He would come running in our room, and say, "watch minnie mickey!??" And he would climb on the bed. I don't know where he gets so much energy first thing in the morning. Didn't get that from me. Chase!? :) So I looked up on the internet of what to do. I think I tried them all:
1. lay beside him-I put his matress on the floor, and layed by him. He began to giggle and hit my face.
2. Stay by the door and make him lay down-I felt like the Nap Natzi--didn't like that.
3. Bribe him with a Popsicle if he would lay down and take a nap. I mentioned the word Popsicle, and he ran to the freezer....didn't work.
4. I held him in my lap down stairs until he fell asleep and I put him to bed, then he woke up 45mins. later.
Every min. of everyday I would try to think of a solution. During this time my son was a cranky crab because of no sleep, and I was a beast too. Poor Chase. Then the lightbulb went on in my tiny head and I had a BRILLIANT idea!!! Lock him in! Wait, that sounded bad. I meant when we put him down we simply lock the door, and he would fall asleep. That was the plan. So that night, Chase turned the door knobs around, and I put him to bed, and locked the door. After a few moments of crying...my precious little angel had fallen asleep! HALLELUJAH! WE DID IT! WE FOUND THE SOLUTION! MY LIFE HAS RETURNED!
Then the next day came, and I was excited to try my little plan again and have him sleep. I put him in there, and he cried, and was silent for about an hour. And I just smiled. I am such a smart mom! Then I heard crying and Chase and I opened the door...and got a whiff of a pungent smell. And to our great surprise--there was poop on the floor, door, toys, and on Carter himself. (I am just so thankful for our STEAM CLEANER! WHOO!) After this incident, I am faced with this question: Am I at square one? Well, my friends, I like to say I'm on square 3 at least...because today I hid his toys in his room, and he has been asleep as I type for the past 2 hours!! WHOOP! WHOOP! I have hope. I do. Nap Time will reign once again for Carter in the Thompson house. :)
